Psychotherapy is usually seen as something a lot more complicated or scary than what it really is.
The truth is, most people would benefit from therapy at some point in their lives and no, you don't need to be "crazy" to go see a therapist.
If you are starting a new phase in your life, you feel lost, sad or anxious. Maybe you just feel "stuck" and want to figure out a new way of doing things. Perhaps you can't seem to get out of your head and you feel disconnected from everyone around you. If you just had a baby or you just lost someone. If you need help managing your children's behavior or you want to take your life on a different path. All of these are just a few of the many good reasons to consult with a therapist.
As you can see, there are a million and one reasons why you may want to work with a therapist, and it's my job to be of help during that time.
My goal is to help you get to where you want to go in life, as quickly as possible.
I grew up and started my training in Buenos Aires, Argentina and later moved to San Francisco so I could be at the hub of all the latest research and findings in Psychology.
Growing up in South America allowed me to be influenced by the culture, be flexible and keep up with the times. During my training at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) I was trained in the Psychodynamic models and the works of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan ("traditional psychoanalysts"). However, upon moving to San Francisco, CA and furthering my training at The Wright Institute, I realized that I needed to get more in-depth knowledge of the latest evidenced-based treatments out there. As a result of this, I developed as a down to earth and efficient therapist, who uses scientifically proven approaches, based on the needs and preferences of my clients. I focus on building strong relationships, providing a space where, together, we can assess, develop and implement a plan to get you where you want to be.
As a former athlete, I enjoy working with sports performance, athletes, high performing individuals and perfectionism.
I have over 15 years of experience working with teenagers and adults. I enjoy working with new families adjusting to parenthood and children with different difficulties like divorce, behavioral/emotional issues and trauma. I have also worked extensively with teens and young adults navigating a wide range of issues such as school and relationship issues, low self-esteem, anxiety, gender and sexual identity, medical trauma, substance abuse, depression, psychosis, chronic trauma and PTSD.
I am bilingual in Spanish and English.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones outdoors and, preferably, under the sun. =)
I obtained my Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California.
